THE FEAR FACTOR
One catch cry of parents is that they do not wish for their children to live in fear. I agree. No one want to have their child be fearful. But let’s extend that thought a bit.
There are appropriate places for fear.
Times when fear is an instructor we need to pay attention to.
Times when fear can save us.
I suggest that what parents really want is for children to live without unnecessary fear. It is not a bad thing for a child to fear playing on or near the edge of a busy road. It is good to be obedient to what a parent has taught about this… but children need to grow beyond obedience to responsibly and thinking for themselves. Once a child is capable of crossing a street or playing in your front yard near a road they need to not be overconfident in their own abilities.
The trick with sexual things is to give them enough information to empower them but not so much that their imagination is given word pictures of things you would not show them actual images of.
